Mobile:

There are very few mobile browsers with full extension support—not even Chrome. Fortunately, we do have a few other options for both Android and iOS users.

1. Android users can choose Yandex Browser (available on Google Play) or Kiwi Browser for use with Smooth Reader.

* Note: Kiwi Browser is no longer available on the Google Play Store. While Kiwi's code is being integrated into the Microsoft Edge browser, you can download and install the last available version of Kiwi Browser from the Kiwi Browser GitHub download page. You will need to choose one of the first four .apk files depending on your device's architecture (arm, arm64, x64, or x86). You may need to enable "Install unknown apps" in your phone's settings to install it.

  • Install: From the Yandex or Kiwi Browser, visit the Smooth Reader Chrome web store page, and tap the "Add to Chrome" button to install.
  • Sign in: Once installed, for Yandex Browser, go to "Settings / Extension catalog", find Smooth Reader, tap "Learn more" then "All settings" to open the Smooth Reader options screen. Tap the white profile icon at the top right corner and sign in to your SmoothReads.World account via Google or API key.
With Kiwi Browser, you can quickly access the Smooth Reader options from the bottom of the main menu by tapping the three vertical dots at the top right corner of the browser window and scroll to the very bottom. From the Smooth Reader options screen, sign in to your SmoothReads.World account via Google or API key.

2. For iOS users, Orion Browser from Kagi uses the same underlying technology as Safari but supports Chrome extensions.

  • Allow Chrome extensions:  From your Orion browser, click the three dots in the bottom right corner, and select "Settings" from the menu. Scroll down to the bottom, find the "EXTENSIONS" section, and select "Chrome" to allow installation of Chrome extensions.
  • Install: From the Orion browser, go to the Smooth Reader Chrome web store page and click "Add to Orion".
  • Sign in: First, go to your SRW account page , click "Get API Key" from the "API Key" section, and follow the instructions to generate and copy the API key. Then, open the Orion browser main menu, and tap the Smooth Reader link from the very top of the main menu. Tap the white profile icon at the top right corner and choose "Sign in via API Key", paste in the API key, and confirm.
