I chanced upon a link to (allegedly) MXTX's old book review and became aware of this book. In the review, MXTX called this book "one of the top three books" she read that year; "the romance line gets 85, the plot line 85, and together they make it a 90". Sadly I can't find the link to the particular review now, but I did find MXTX interview notes from 2016 where when asked which non-danmei book(s) she would recommend, she suggested Resentment Strikes the Bell. This is very much a thriller, horror story. A few chapters have been locked for content violation at jjwxc.
